Locks Changed & ReKeyed

If you’ve ever experienced frustration from losing your house keys, had keys stolen, tenants moving out or concerns over moving into a new home, a common solution is to replace your existing locks with a new ones. This common misconception is known to many homeowners, in that lock replacing is their only available option. However, more often than not, the situation requires a much better and cheaper solution: re-keying your lock. So, what’s the difference between the two and when should you choose rekeying rather than replacing your lock?

Replacing the locks is self-explanatory: We change your old locks with new ones. Rekeying, on the other hand, is a bit different – we will replace the working key of the lock but keep the same lock. The lock is, however, taken apart and some parts inside are replaced (the pins). Replacing the keys and pins is a simple procedure, where the pins are changed or rearranged so the old key will no longer work in conjunction with the existing lock. During this process we can key the locks alike (when possible) so one key will work all of your locks. This saves you having to carry a big bunch of keys for your house or business.
